Continuing Medical Education

Physician participation in Continuing Medical Education (CME) courses reinforces basic medical knowledge and gives updated information on the practice of medicine and delivery of healthcare. New ideas and skills are also introduced and research findings are unveiled. Continuing medical education can help improve the quality of healthcare received by the community around us. UC Irvine School of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education.

Scientific & Clinical Advances Seminar Series »

Scientific & Clinical Advances is an ongoing continuing education program for faculty and laboratory staff. The program features a series of monthly seminars, each presented on a rotating basis by a different division of the Department of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine. The program is designated by the UC Irvine College of Health Sciences as an approved CME activity and is approved for continuing education credit by California Continuing Education Accreditation Agency #0073.

Unless otherwise noted, all sessions will be held at the UC Irvine Medical Center, Building 53 auditorium from noon-1 p.m.

Global Objectives

  • Review recent advances in the recognition and diagnosis of current emerging disease states.
  • Discuss the pathophysiology of various disease states and the multidisciplinary considerations that affect patient care outcomes.
  • Identify recent changes in requirements for accreditation, licensing, and regulatory compliance in across all divisions of pathology.
  • Discuss recent developments in scientific research and their application to the practice of pathology and laboratory medicine.
  • Discuss recent developments in diagnostic technologies and their application to the provision of enhanced laboratory services.

Experimental Pathology Research Seminar Series »

The Experimental Pathology Research Seminar Series is an ongoing continuing education program for faculty and laboratory staff. The proram features a series of biweekly seminars on research issues. The program is designated by the UC Irvine College of Health Sciences as an approved CME activity. It is also approved for continuing education credit by the California Continuing Education Accredication Agency.

Unless otherwise noted, all sessions will be held in the Dr. S. Jerome and Judith Tamkin Student Lecture Hall Building, Room F114, on Fridays at 9 .m.
